The Offset Shop.co.uk was launched on the 17th September 2007 by David and Anne Slater BA DipLib MSc, in Halesowen, West Midlands. For many years we have been keen to do our part in helping to reduce, reuse and recycle.

Society is rapidly gaining a greater awareness for green issues and in particular there is growing support to offset our harmful CO2 emissions. The continual growth of road and air travel has highlighted the need for us to acknowledge our responsibilies, and to protect the environment from such harmful acts. As a result, many more people are now far more aware of the damage these carbon emissions have on our planet.

Whilst it is reasonably common for people to question the harmful direct effects of such things as travel and energy used in the home, there appears to be very little being done to counter our indirect carbon footprint. Carbon offsets are also required for the manufacture, transport and use of our consumer products.

Suprisingly, almost half (46%) of a typical person's carbon footprint is the result of the energy used to create, transport or provide the goods and services we buy and use each & everyday. (Ref: The Carbon Trust, 2006)

This is why we set-up TheOffsetShop.co.uk. There are many providers available to offset our trips abroad, car use or our annual household energy consumption, but there appears to be very few options available for us to carbon offset the objects we buy every day. Now you can and it won't cost you an extra penny!
